Crombie’s Greenbelt resignation an indictment of Ford: NDP Climate Crisis critic

TORONTO — Peter Tabuns, NDP critic for Energy and the Climate Crisis, has issued the following statement regarding the resignation of David Crombie from the Greenbelt Council Saturday evening, which Crombie writes is in response to Doug Ford’s amended Bill 229 – which Crombie calls the Ford government’s “high-level bombing” of the environment:

“This shocking resignation is an indictment of Doug Ford and his continued war on conservation, the Greenbelt, and the environment. The Ford Government is attacking conservation authorities, attacking science, and dragging us even further back in the battle to avoid the scariest impacts of climate change. We agree with David Crombie’s assessment that Ford’s attack on conservation authorities is no less than a ‘high-level bombing.’ People have had enough of Ford working for powerful developers and not in the best interests of the province, and our kids’ futures. We call on Doug Ford again to reverse these changes and stop their plans to let developers attack the environment.”
