STILES: How much did Ontarians pay for Ford’s American photo op?

QUEEN’S PARK — Official Opposition Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles says Doug Ford has nothing to show for his latest taxpayer-funded trip to the United States:

"This summer, Ontarians could have been paying less on their grocery bills,” said Stiles. “Instead of making that happen, Doug Ford voted against it and used taxpayer dollars to charter a private jet to the United States.

“Doug Ford flew to Washington to play Captain Canada on the taxpayer dime, but he couldn’t even get a meeting on the books with any government officials. While he chirps from the sidelines, Ontarians are putting groceries back on the shelves.

“Being a diplomat is clearly not in Doug Ford’s wheelhouse. Instead of burning taxpayer dollars to take pictures in front of the White House, maybe he should come back to Ontario, and start lowering people’s grocery costs, or fixing our healthcare system. Better yet, he could actually show up to his job instead of taking a five-month summer vacation.”
