Province must put COVID-19 isolation centres in Brampton and Mississauga: NDP MPPs

BRAMPTON — NDP MPPs Kevin Yarde (Brampton North), Gurratan Singh (Brampton East) and NDP Deputy Leader Sara Singh (Brampton Centre) released the following statement in response to the federal announcement of a COVID-19 isolation centre for Peel:
“The Doug Ford government needs to stop trying to avoid spending money on Peel, and build isolation centres in both Brampton and Mississauga.
Peel has needed multiple COVID-19 isolation centres for months and months now, so the federal government’s announcement of one centre for the whole region is welcome – but not enough.
Even as more seniors, students and workers have gotten sick, Doug Ford has dug in his heels and told Brampton: you’re on your own. The NDP has been fighting for paid sick days and additional resources to increase testing, contact tracing and proactive workplace inspections in Peel, but Ford just doesn’t want to spend the money.
Bramptonians have been showing up at work for Ontario during the pandemic. When is Doug Ford finally going to show up for us in our fight against COVID-19?”
