FACT CHECK: Doug Ford urged asymptomatic people to be tested the day before he urged them not to

QUEEN’S PARK — Today, the Ford Government announced new COVID-19 testing guidelines that state that "low risk, asymptomatic individuals should not be considered for testing,” and will be turned away if they try to get a test.

This is less than 24 hours after Doug Ford urged all asymptomatic individuals to seek testing:

“If you're asymptomatic if you feel that you have been around someone with COVID, come and get tested.”

And less than a week since the Minister of Health urged the same.

“We certainly want everyone who is concerned about COVID-19 to be able to have the test. So we have people who are experiencing some symptoms. It does not matter what it is but if they are not feeling that well, we feel they should go for a test.”
